Fern Britton, a well-known broadcaster and author, recently took to Twitter to share her excitement about her latest novel, The Good Servant, which has been selling well. Britton shared an image of the novel and captioned it with the news that it had sold over 1000 copies a day for the past 12 days. She thanked her fans and followers for their support and congratulated herself on the success of her book.
The star’s fans were quick to congratulate her on how well the book was selling, with many expressing their joy and admiration for the novel. Some of them even shared their experiences of reading the book, stating how it had kept them company while they worked from home.
Challenging times
Britton’s success comes after a difficult few years for her. In a recent interview with Yours magazine, she opened up about the challenges she has faced in her personal life. She described the last three or four years as “difficult” and stated that she had “got a bit lost.”
In early 2020, Britton announced her split from Phil Vickery, her husband of 20 years. A few months earlier, she lost her father, actor Tony Britton, at the age of 95, and the previous year, her mother Ruth died at the age of 94.
Despite these challenges, Britton revealed that she is feeling healthy and fit these days, despite having to have an operation on her arthritic shoulder. She credits therapy with giving her a more positive attitude to life and is starting to enjoy being alone.
Leaving This Morning
Britton was a presenter on This Morning for ten years before leaving the show in 2019. Holly Willoughby took over her role, and it was rumoured that Britton left in a dispute over pay. However, Britton stated in an exclusive chat with HELLO! that she loved the show and felt it was right to stop after ten years.
When asked in the same interview whether Phillip Schofield might leave the show soon, she commented that it would not amaze her if he stepped down, as it is an arduous job at any age.
