WBC Designs a Unique Belt for Juneteenth-Themed Exhibition Boxing Match

The World Boxing Council (WBC) has come up with a special Juneteenth-themed belt to be presented at the exhibition match between Floyd Mayweather and John Gotti’s grandson, John Gotti III, which is scheduled to take place on June 11 in Florida. The belt features broken chains and shaking hands, along with the usual “WBC World Champion” etched on the front and “Juneteenth” written underneath.

Given the historical significance of the Juneteenth holiday, which falls just over a week after the exhibition match, the WBC wanted to commemorate the day as part of the weekend’s festivities. The organization plans to present the unique belts to Floyd Mayweather, Robert Smith, James McNair, and Jona Rechnitz for their contributions to society.

WBC President Mauricio Sulaimán shared his thoughts on the matter with TMZ Sports, stating that “Juneteenth is a national holiday and Floyd Mayweather is the best representative for success and glory through hard work and dedication.” He further added that “The WBC will thank and support these four great men who make life better for all every single day.”

The exhibition match between Mayweather and Gotti III is not about declaring an actual winner, and the whole event is meant to be a celebration. There will be musical performances by Ozuna and Lunay, making it a festive event for all boxing enthusiasts.
