During a concert in Fresno, California, Tom Sandoval, the frontman of the struggling cover band Tom Sandoval & The Most Extras, changed the lyrics of Fountains of Wayne’s hit song “Stacy’s Mom.” Sandoval sang, “Schwartzy, do you remember when you had a lawn? / A homeowner lawn / Your mom came out wearing just a TomTom hoodie and thong.” Sandoval was referring to the California home that Schwartz used to share with his ex-wife, Katie Maloney before they sold it last summer amid their divorce.
This is not the first time that Sandoval has changed the lyrics to “Stacy’s Mom.” Last month, he dissed Raquel Leviss, with whom he had a months-long affair, by singing, “Schwartz’s mom has got it going on / She’s all I want, and I wait for so long / Schwartzy, can’t you see that Raquel is not for me?”
The Drama
Schwartz publicly said he felt “used” by his pal and business partner for dragging him into the Scandoval drama after Sandoval confided in him. Schwartz said, “He made a big mess, and he left it for us to clean up. It’s hard for me not to be resentful of him. … I’m taking a break from Tom right now.”
Schwartz added that he felt like Sandoval “exploited” their friendship amid the latter’s affair with Leviss and turned him into an “unfortunate confidant.”
“I know Tom is itching to tell more of his side of the story, but when you have a full-blown affair, your side of the story becomes obsolete. … He needs to lose the ego, he needs a change of heart, humility, and to say ‘I’m sorry’ — not ‘I’m sorry, but…’” Schwartz continued.
Schwartz previously claimed that Sandoval first told him in August 2022 that he had had a one-night stand with Leviss, but in January, Sandoval admitted to him that he was “in love” with the former pageant queen.
Despite encouraging Sandoval to tell his then-girlfriend, Ariana Madix, neither Schwartz nor Sandoval ever came forward with the truth, and she ultimately ended up finding out on her own.
The Friendship
Tom Sandoval and Tom Schwartz have been best friends for years. They have appeared on the reality show Vanderpump Rules together and opened a bar together. However, their friendship has been strained recently due to Sandoval’s affair with Raquel Leviss.
Despite Schwartz’s disappointment in Sandoval’s actions, he has said that he hopes they can work through their issues and remain friends. Sandoval has not publicly responded to Schwartz’s comments.
