Sally Nugent, a 51-year-old journalist, recently enjoyed a vacation with some of her close friends, including her former BBC Breakfast colleague, Steph McGovern. Sally, who reportedly parted ways with her husband this year, shared a series of pictures from the sun-soaked trip on Instagram.

The images shared by Sally on Instagram included her posing by her hotel pool and looking extremely glamorous. She thanked her friends, Lizzie Simmons, Steph Lunch, and Patrick T Bartley, for the vacation and referred to them as ‘special people.’ The post prompted a flurry of messages, with Sally’s colleague, Nina Warhurst, expressing her jealousy and wishing Sally all the best for the future.
The vacation comes one month after it was reported that Sally and her businessman husband, Gavin Hawthorn, had decided to go their separate ways. Although Sally is notoriously private about her personal life, her bio on the BBC Breakfast website states that she is “married with one child – a football and rugby mad boy.”
Sally has never publicly confirmed her son’s name, but during an interview with the Radio Times in 2021, she revealed that it can be challenging to decide on a TV programme for the whole family. Sally shared that her sofa is in her kitchen diner, and there’s a giant flat-screen TV on the wall, making it difficult to find something that her husband, 13-year-old son, and she all want to watch.
In a separate interview with S Magazine, Sally spoke about how her husband marked the birth of their son. He bought Sally a “blue for a boy” vintage aquamarine ring from an antique jeweller in Richmond, London.
Sally and Gavin have tried to make their marriage work, but they haven’t been able to resolve their issues, according to a friend of the couple who spoke to MailOnline. Gavin has reportedly moved out of their family home, a £1.4million four-bed detached house in the upmarket suburb of Hale, Greater Manchester.
