50 Cent, Shaq and Kenya Barris in Talks to Buy BET

According to sources with direct knowledge, a group consisting of 50 Cent, Shaq and Kenya Barris is making a big push to acquire BET. The trio was recently spotted at the Paramount offices in New York City discussing the possibility of purchasing the network. While the deal is not yet final, sources say that they are “deep in it.”

Why 50 Cent, Shaq and Kenya Barris Make Sense

The group of potential buyers makes sense, as 50 Cent has had a lot of success on Starz and recently signed a multi-year deal with FOX. He also just announced his global “The Final Lap” tour to celebrate 20 years of “Get Rich or Die Trying.” Shaq and Kenya Barris both have massive TV deals, as well as impressive resumes of producing, directing and writing credits.

Other interested parties include Diddy, Tyler Perry and Byron Allen. While the asking price is still unknown, BET sold for about $3 billion 22 years ago, so it is likely that the figure has increased. CVC, an investment company, is reportedly assisting the trio in making an offer.
