Lala Kent, from the reality TV show “Vanderpump Rules,” has claimed that her fiancé, film producer Randall Emmett, made derogatory comments to her while she was in labor with their daughter, Ocean. According to Kent’s interview with the Los Angeles Times, Emmett allegedly told her she looked like she was “part of an exorcism” after passing out from an IV. Kent also alleged that Emmett felt uncomfortable and left the delivery room, inviting Kent’s mother to step in. Emmett allegedly rented a hospital suite and had his assistant deliver Fireball, NyQuil, and bedding. He returned to the delivery room on March 15, 2021, when Kent was ready to give birth. Kent’s mother claimed that Emmett left the hospital at 8 a.m. and did not return until Kent was discharged on March 16, 2021. Emmett has denied these allegations, claiming he was present for every moment of the birth and flew Kent’s mother out to be a part of the experience.
The couple spoke about the incident on Kent’s podcast, “Give them Lala,” in May 2021, but portrayed the experience differently. Emmett took over the conversation, saying that Kent passed out multiple times, causing him to worry. He likened the experience to an exorcism and joked about Kent’s eyes rolling back into her head.
Kent’s allegations came after the release of the Hulu documentary, “The Randall Scandal: Love, Loathing and Vanderpump,” based on the LA Times’ investigation of Emmett’s lawsuits and mounting debt. Emmett dismissed the documentary as “just as biased” as the “highly biased and factually inaccurate hit piece” it was based on.
Kent and Emmett began dating in 2015 while Emmett was still married to Ambyr Childers, with whom he shares two daughters. They went public with their relationship in 2018 and announced their engagement that same year. The couple welcomed their daughter, Ocean, in March 2021 but split in October, with allegations of infidelity on Emmett’s part. The details of their custody battle over Ocean are unknown, but Childers has sought “sole legal and physical custody” of their minor daughters, claiming that Emmett is being investigated for suspected child exploitation or pedophilia. Emmett has denied these allegations as absurd.
