Princess Charlene of Monaco Opens Up About Her Life and Marriage

In a rare interview with South African outlet News24, Princess Charlene of Monaco unveiled her reasons for deleting her Instagram account. The decision has sparked speculation about the state of her relationship with Prince Albert. However, Charlene clarified that her motive was simple: the privacy of her growing children. The 45-year-old princess, who tied the knot with Prince Albert in 2011, expressed her desire to shield their eight-year-old twins, Princess Gabriella and Prince Jacques, from the pressures of public life. Charlene emphasized her gratitude for the fact that the twins will always have one another as siblings.

Addressing the rumors surrounding her marriage, Princess Charlene declared her unawareness of their origin but firmly denied their veracity. She referred to the rumors as “tiring and exhausting.” The former Olympic swimmer has been vocal about her annoyance with the constant speculation surrounding her relationship with Prince Albert. The couple has strived to maintain their privacy and navigate their personal life away from the public eye.

Princess Charlene also spoke about her journey to regain her health following a severe ear, nose, and throat infection that left her stranded in South Africa for several months due to the pandemic. Despite the challenging circumstances, Charlene revealed that she is feeling stronger now and provided insights into her self-care routine. Regular walks have become an integral part of her routine, but she expressed her desire to resume swimming training to restore her energy levels and physical strength.

As a former professional swimmer, Charlene underwent a significant shift in her training regimen during the lead-up to her marriage. She opted to remove weight training and increase her focus on stretching to achieve a leaner physique. She retired from professional swimming in 2011 after suffering an ankle fracture, but she continued to train at least three times a week under the guidance of her former Olympic coach. Charlene credits sports for instilling drive, discipline, and humility in her personality.

On September 1, 2020, Princess Charlene collapsed due to complications arising from her ear, nose, and throat infection. She was immediately rushed to Netcare Alberlito Hospital for treatment. The palace released a statement to People magazine, assuring the public that her condition was stable and under close medical supervision. Charlene was set to undergo surgery on that day but experienced a delay.

Through the following months, Princess Charlene went through several surgeries, the last one taking place in October 2021. These procedures were aimed at treating the persistent illness she had been battling. Fortunately, Prince Albert confirmed in late October 2021 that she would finally be returning home to Monaco to reunite with their two children.

Princess Charlene of Monaco’s candid interview shed light on her decision to protect her children’s privacy, her perspective on the rumors surrounding her marriage, and her journey to recovery after a health scare. As a member of the royal family, she continues to face public scrutiny while striving to lead a private and fulfilling life with her husband and children.
