Prince William’s Earthshot Prize Heads to Singapore in November

The Earthshot Prize, founded by Prince William in 2020, will head to Singapore for its third annual awards ceremony. The prestigious event will take place on 7 November and will feature a range of world-renowned musicians and artists. The five winners of The Earthshot Prize 2023 will receive £1 million each to help fund their environmental solutions.

Earthshot Prize

The Earthshot Prize is a global initiative that aims to tackle some of the world’s biggest environmental challenges. The prize is based on five ‘Earthshot’ goals: Protect and restore nature; Fix our climate; Clean our air; Revive our oceans; Build a waste-free world. Over the next ten years, five £1 million prizes will be awarded each year, providing at least 50 solutions to the world’s greatest environmental problems by 2030.

Prince William launched The Earthshot Prize with help from The Royal Foundation, and it is a cause close to his heart. The prize was inspired by President John F. Kennedy’s ‘Moonshot’ programme in the 1960s, which encouraged millions of people to support the US space programme.

Earthshot Week

This year’s event will also see the introduction of Earthshot Week, which will take place from 6 November. Global leaders, businesses, and investors will unite in the heart of Singapore to explore opportunities with the prize winners and finalists. Members of the public will also be invited to experience local activations centred on the 2023 cohort of Earthshot solutions.

Prince William and Princess Kate attended the second annual Earthshot Prize Awards Ceremony in Boston in 2022. Princess Kate looked stunning in a rented green maxi dress from HURR, while Prince William looked dapper in a black tuxedo. The five 2022 Earthshot Prize winners were Mukuru Clean Stoves, Kheyti, Indigenous Women of the Great Barrier Reef, Notpla, and 44.01. In 2021, the Earthshot Prize winners were Aem Electrolyser, Coral Vita, Republic of Costa Rica, Takachar, and The City of Milan Food Waste Hubs.

In an official statement, the Prince of Wales said: “The Earthshot Prize is all about showing the world that solutions to some of the biggest environmental challenges we face are out there.” After two years of discovering impactful ideas and innovations, he is delighted that The Earthshot Prize is travelling to Singapore, where the ground-breaking solutions of the 2023 finalists will be celebrated.
