Meghan McCain, former co-host of “The View,” has voiced her concerns over the recent trend of celebrities sharing their private sexual information with the public. In a column published in the Daily Mail, McCain criticized A-listers like Gwyneth Paltrow, Meghan Trainor, Rachel Bilson, and Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos for their recent sexual confessions.
McCain specifically took issue with Paltrow’s recent “Call Her Daddy” interview, in which the actress compared the sexual skills of her exes Brad Pitt and Ben Affleck. McCain argued that while men have been bragging about their sexual conquests for centuries, it is not appropriate for Paltrow to do so before an audience of millions.
Similarly, McCain criticized Trainor for sharing “raunchy tales” about her struggles with vaginismus, a condition that causes involuntary tensing of the vagina, during sex with her husband. McCain noted that while she sympathizes with Trainor’s struggles, it is not something that should be shared publicly.
McCain also took issue with Bilson’s recent “Women on Top” podcast episode, in which the actress discussed her favorite sex positions. McCain specifically found Bilson’s preference for being “f–king manhandled” to be dangerous.
Finally, McCain criticized Ripa and Consuelos for their numerous NSFW stories about their sex life. McCain argued that whatever happens behind closed doors should stay there, and that celebrities should exercise self-control when it comes to sharing their private sexual information.
McCain concluded her column by arguing that while strong women should be confident in their sexuality, they should not feel pressured to share it with the public. Self-control, she argued, is the first step toward self-respect.
