Maria Menounos Announces Pregnancy While Secretly Battling Cancer

Maria Menounos, a television personality, and her husband Keven Undergaro were thrilled to announce their first pregnancy via surrogacy after trying for ten years. However, little did they know that Maria was secretly battling cancer at the time. She received a Stage 2 pancreatic cancer diagnosis just one month before the announcement of her baby girl.

Maria underwent a full-body MRI with emerging wellness brand Prenuvo, which led to the terrifying diagnosis. She was already experiencing symptoms such as pain, which nearly caused her to cancel her appearance on Live! with Kelly and Ryan.

The Baby Announcement

Despite the pain, Maria was determined to announce her baby news on live television. She recalls almost canceling the appearance on the Today Show with Hoda Kotb. She told her husband, “We have to take this step by step,” before heading to the airport.

During the drive, Maria experienced so much pain that she almost turned around. However, she didn’t want to let her diagnosis overshadow the excitement of the pregnancy. She told her husband, “We gotta shift this energy, we have to be excited for this baby.”

Focus on the Future

Maria and her husband had been trying to expand their family for almost a decade before the pregnancy announcement. Despite the unexpected cancer diagnosis, they are now looking forward to welcoming their baby girl in June.

Maria reflects on the past year, saying it has been full of “trauma, stress, crisis.” However, she is grateful and lucky to have her family and a positive outlook on the future. She recently revealed in an interview with People that she is now completely cancer-free.
