Lizzo Breaks Her Silence on Sexual Harassment and Body Shaming Allegations

Lizzo, the talented singer known for her hit song “Good As Hell,” has finally spoken out after being accused of sexual harassment and body shaming by three backup dancers in a recent lawsuit. In a heartfelt statement shared on Instagram, Lizzo expressed her deep disappointment and described the past few days as “gut-wrenchingly difficult.”

Addressing the accusations made against her, Lizzo firmly stated that she is not the villain she has been portrayed as. She insisted that the allegations were “as unbelievable as they sound” and too outrageous to ignore. The singer emphasized that these stories originate from former employees who have previously acknowledged that their behavior on tour was deemed inappropriate and unprofessional.

Passion, Hard Work, and High Standards

Lizzo has always been incredibly passionate about her craft, and she takes her music and performances seriously. Her commitment to delivering the best work possible stems from her desire to represent herself authentically and cater to her dedicated fans. This passion comes with hard decisions at times, but she maintains that she would never aim to make anyone feel uncomfortable or undervalued as part of her team.

While Lizzo acknowledges her openness about her sexuality and expression, she refuses to let others misinterpret or exploit these aspects of her identity. She underlines her commitment to the respect and empowerment of women and speaks from personal experience, having faced daily body shaming herself. Lizzo adamantly denies any accusations of criticizing or dismissing employees based on their weight.

Taking a Stand and Moving Forward

Despite the hurt caused by these allegations, Lizzo remains determined to not let them overshadow the positive impact she has made in the world. She expresses her gratitude to everyone who has shown their support during this challenging time. Lizzo believes in uplifting herself and others, and she is ready to continue her journey as an artist who values respect, inclusivity, and authenticity.

On August 1, three of Lizzo’s former dancers, Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams, and Noelle Rodriguez, filed a lawsuit against Lizzo, her dance captain, and her production company, Big Grrrl Big Touring (BGBT). The lawsuit includes allegations of sexual, religious, and racial harassment, discrimination, assault, false imprisonment, fostering a hostile work environment, body shaming, and pressuring a dancer to touch a performer’s breasts at an Amsterdam strip club.

Lizzo’s response to the sexual harassment and body shaming allegations showcases her determination to set the record straight and ensure her fans know her true character. While the lawsuit is ongoing, Lizzo’s commitment to respect, inclusivity, and empowerment remains unwavering.
