Katy Perry turned heads at King Charles III’s coronation concert on Sunday night, where she performed for a star-studded audience at Windsor Castle. Perry wore a bespoke metallic Vivienne Westwood corseted gown that was inspired by the 18th century and designed to exude “baroque grandeur.” The gold statement earrings she wore matched the dress beautifully, while her hair was pulled back into a sleek updo.
Belting Out Classic Hits to Massive Crowd
As an ambassador for the King’s British Asian Trust, Perry sang two of her classic hits, “Roar” and “Firework,” to the massive crowd at the patriotic bash. She expressed her gratitude for being there and even brought her mom, Mary, with her to the UK for the event. Perry praised King Charles III for his charity work, which brings out the “firework in so many young people.”
Joined by Fellow American Idol Judge
Fellow American Idol judge Lionel Richie was also in attendance at the coronation concert. Richie, who was named a global ambassador for The Prince’s Trust in 2019, was invited to the event because of his role with the charity. While Perry and Richie were away, Ed Sheeran and Alanis Morissette temporarily replaced them on the US-based show.
Star-Studded Concert Follows Historic Ceremony
The coronation concert featured other performances by Andrea Bocelli, Take That, Nicole Scherzinger, and the official Coronation Choir. The show followed Saturday’s historic ceremony at Westminster Abbey, which saw Kate Middleton in a beloved red Alexander McQueen suit and Queen Camilla wearing a glittering crown.
