Actress Kate Bosworth, known for her role in the cult-favorite movie Blue Crush, has teamed up with the fashion brand Roxy to release a collection of “surfer girl” style staples. The 23-piece collection includes everything from summery string bikinis to a mesh beach bag, with the label’s signature hibiscus flower emblazoned throughout the designs. Bosworth modeled the looks for a coastal campaign in Hawaii’s North Shore, where the movie Blue Crush was also filmed.
The Inspiration behind the Collection
Bosworth said that the idea of the collection was in the zeitgeist with the movie’s 20th anniversary, but also because she turned 40 last year, which was a milestone. She said she had been “half-joking” about collaborating with Roxy for years. Bosworth’s character in Blue Crush struggled with self-doubt, vulnerability, and fear, and she felt that she had come full circle with all of those things and was finally able to find this centered alignment in herself.
The Collection’s Designs
The Roxy x Kate Bosworth collection includes playful and wearable designs, such as the String Bikini Top with a Tied Bikini Bottom, a Surf.Kind.Kate. Bucket Hat, and a Blue Crush Stripe Cheeky Bikini Bottom. The collection also has cover-ups such as the Knit Mini Dress and a classic Crewneck Sweatshirt.
Bosworth’s Collaboration with Roxy
Bosworth said in a press release that the collection stems from a heartfelt connection and collaboration with Roxy. She modeled the designs for a coastal campaign in Hawaii’s North Shore, where the movie Blue Crush was also filmed. Bosworth was thrilled to collaborate with Roxy as she had been “half-joking” about collaborating with them for years.
The actress had company on set while showing off the styles, as she posted a series of behind-the-scenes photos holding hands with Justin Long. The collection comes shortly after Long, 44, seemed to hint that they’d tied the knot, just one month after confirming their engagement, as he called Bosworth his “wife” on a recent episode of his “Life is Short” podcast.
