Jeremy Bieber Attempts to Clarify Offensive Comments about LGBTQIA+ Community

Jeremy Bieber, the father of pop star Justin Bieber, has tried to clarify his offensive tweets about the LGBTQIA+ community, but only made things worse. In a tweet on Friday morning, Jeremy stated that he didn’t expect to be thrown into the political arena but felt forced to be involved. He also denied being a bigot and insensitive.

Jeremy’s earlier tweets were about celebrating families, and he stated that he only wanted to acknowledge families, nothing more. He also clarified that he had not abandoned his son Justin, and it was an old narrative pushed. He noted that he adores his brother, who is gay, and urged his followers to love whomever they want.

Jeremy’s homophobic meme featuring a rainbow flag with the sarcastic caption, “Don’t forget to thank a straight person this month for your existence,” caused outrage on social media. He also urged his followers to celebrate families because the things this generation glorifies are unbelievable.

Social media users slammed Jeremy for spreading hate against the LGBTQIA+ community on the platform. One person tweeted, “Says the man who abandoned his child and only came back because he became famous.. that’s how you celebrate family?” Another added, “Why would anyone listen to you on the subject of families??”

After receiving mounting criticism, Jeremy offered a weak apology for his remarks. He tweeted that acknowledging the nuclear family is offensive and apologized to those offended. He also noted that it was not his intent and that his opinion didn’t matter.

Justin Bieber has not commented on his father’s recent comments, and he has not outwardly shared his support for the LGBTQIA+ community. However, in 2011, he responded to a question about homosexuality during an interview with Rolling Stone, stating that it’s everyone’s own decision to do that and that it doesn’t affect him and shouldn’t affect anyone else.

Jeremy and Justin’s relationship has been complicated throughout the years, as the carpenter was not present during Justin’s childhood, and the pop star’s mom, Pattie Mallette, raised him alone. However, Justin and his father have mended their relationship, and Justin has grown close with his three half-siblings.

Jeremy’s attempt to clarify his comments about the LGBTQIA+ community has only added fuel to the fire. His tweets have caused outrage on social media, with many people calling him out for spreading hate against the LGBTQIA+ community. It remains to be seen if he will take further steps to clarify his remarks and make amends.
