After months of rumors and speculation, Dua Lipa finally made her red carpet debut with her new boyfriend, French director Romain Gavras at the Cannes Film Festival. The couple was spotted holding hands and laughing together, looking happy and in love.
Their First Public Appearance Together
The “Don’t Start Now” hitmaker opted for a chic one-shoulder black floor-length gown with cutouts and a long slit for her first public appearance with Gavras. She paired the classy outfit with a pair of strappy heels and minimal jewelry. Meanwhile, Gavras kept it classic with a black suit paired with a crisp white shirt and black tie.
The pair appeared to be in good spirits at the star-studded screening of “Omar La Fraise (The King Of Algiers)” and were seen laughing together whilst holding hands.
Their Relationship History
Lipa was first linked to Gavras in February, after the pair left a party in London together. The couple was later seen holding hands at Paris Fashion Week that same month. In March, sources claimed that the pair had been “quietly getting to know each other for months” after her break-up from Anwar Hadid.
“Dua and Romain have been quietly getting to know each other for several months,” a source told The Sun at the time. “They have been enjoying spending time together. The pair met each other’s close circles over the festive period and have lots in common. Dua knows how important it is to find someone who understands her industry. She feels Romain totally gets it. They’re both really creative people,” the insider added.
Prior to Gavras, Lipa dated the brother of models Gigi and Bella Hadid from 2019 until their split in January 2021. In September 2022, Lipa sparked rumors she was dating Trevor Noah after being spotted out in NYC with the comedian several times. However, her reps told Page Six at the time that they were just friends. Then in December 2022, Lipa went on to briefly date rapper Jack Harlow after he featured a paean to the British-Albanian star entitled, appropriately enough, “Dua Lipa.”
Gavras’ Career and Exes
Gavras is known for directing Kanye West’s music video “No Church in the Wild” and M.I.A.’s video “Bad Girls.” Prior to dating Lipa, Gavras dated singer Rita Ora for about six months in 2020.
