Former US President Donald Trump has repeated his infamous “Access Hollywood” quote under oath during a deposition in the E. Jean Carroll case. Carroll is suing Trump for battery and defamation, claiming that he raped her in the 1990s. The trial is ongoing in New York City. In the 2005 interview with Billy Bush, Trump made remarks that were caught on a hot mic, saying, “And when you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything, grab them by the p****. You can do anything.” During the deposition, Carroll’s attorney, Roberta Kaplan, grilled Trump about his treatment of women and raised the issue of the “Access Hollywood” comments. She asked if he had made those remarks, and Trump responded by saying that historically, it’s true with stars. He then added, “Unfortunately or fortunately.” This stunning clarification has raised eyebrows and added fuel to the fire in the ongoing case.
Trump’s Treatment of Carroll
During the deposition, Trump didn’t just repeat his “Access Hollywood” quote but also called Carroll a “nut job” and a “whack job.” He has previously responded to Carroll’s allegations by calling her story a “hoax” and saying that she’s not his type. Trump’s treatment of Carroll and his alleged behavior towards women have long been a topic of discussion, and this deposition has shed new light on the issue. The trial is expected to wrap up soon, with closing arguments scheduled to begin on Monday. It remains to be seen if Trump will decide to testify.
