Even before Princess Diana married King Charles, her brother Charles Spencer had a unique bond with the royal family. In the latest episode of his podcast Rabbit Hole Detectives, Charles shared that the late Queen Elizabeth II was his godmother and known for her excellent gift-giving.
Charles revealed during the podcast that he was christened in Westminster Abbey. He humbly acknowledged that it was not due to his own family’s significance but because the Queen was kind enough to stand as one of his godparents, and it was convenient for her.
When asked if he received a birthday card from the Queen, Charles confirmed that he did, but the best gift he ever received from her was when he was attending a tough boarding school. Charles described the gift as a very small radio that looked like a book, allowing him to sneak into his dormitory and listen to Radio Luxembourg under his pillow. The present was labeled: “To Charles, from his godmother Elizabeth R.”
