Billie Eilish Claps Back at Online Haters Criticizing Her Feminine Style

Billie Eilish, the 21-year-old singer, took to her Instagram stories over the weekend to criticize her online haters who have labeled her a “sellout” for embracing her femininity. Eilish addressed the “true idiots” who constantly feel the need to comment on her evolving style, calling them “f***ing bozos” and urging them to “let women exist!”.

The “Bad Guy” singer has been wearing baggy clothes and having colorful hair for the first five years of her career, which she said was to avoid being sexualized by perverted men because she was underage. However, her fans have witnessed her style evolve over the years, and recently she has been seen wearing more feminine outfits and glam red carpet looks.

Eilish wrote on Instagram that she spent the first five years of her career being criticized by people for dressing like a boy and not being girly enough. She was constantly told that she would be hotter if she dressed like a woman. But now that she has changed and feels comfortable wearing anything remotely feminine or fitting, she’s being called a “sellout.” She sarcastically said that she’s just like the rest, and haters are wondering what happened to her.

Eilish then pointed out that women are multifaceted and can be interested in multiple things. She stressed that she can be both feminine and masculine. She also gave haters the ultimate clapback by telling them to “suck my absolute c–k and balls you women hating ass weirdos.”

Some of Eilish’s fans on Twitter defended her, saying that accusing her of being a sellout because she no longer styles herself like a tomboy is doing too much. They also mentioned that the reason she dressed tomboyish in the first place was to try and hide her body from perverted men when she was underage.

Eilish’s latest red carpet appearance was at the 2023 Met Gala in New York City earlier this month, where she put her own goth take on the “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line Of Beauty” theme. She wore a sheer lace Simone Rocha dress over a black satin Agent Provocateur corset. This was a drastic change from her previous tomboyish looks that she famously sported while breaking out into the music industry in 2015.

In a 2019 campaign video for Calvin Klein, Eilish explained that she never wants the world to know everything about her, and that’s why she wears big baggy clothes. Nobody can have an opinion about her body because they haven’t seen what’s underneath. She does not want anyone to sexualize her.

Eilish’s critics should let her be and embrace her evolving style. Women are multifaceted and can be interested in multiple things, and Eilish is no exception.
