Teresa Giudice Aware of Back Tax Debts and Actively Paying Them Off

Reality TV star, Teresa Giudice, known for her appearance on “Real Housewives of New Jersey,” is said to be aware of her back tax debts and is taking proactive steps to repay them. According to her attorney, James J. Leonard Jr., Giudice has been aware of her tax obligations for years and is making significant monthly payments towards her outstanding tax liabilities.

Court documents obtained by Page Six show that Giudice has a new tax lien for more than $17,000. However, a source close to the situation has confirmed that the particular lien has been settled with the IRS. The debts from 2014 and 2015, totaling close to $500,000, are the only ones still active and in the process of repayment.

Giudice has faced legal trouble in the past for unpaid taxes and other financial issues. In 2014, she and her then-husband Joe Giudice pleaded guilty to federal fraud charges, including bankruptcy fraud, conspiracy to commit mail fraud, wire fraud, and failure to pay taxes. The couple admitted to hiding assets from bankruptcy creditors and submitting phony loan applications to obtain $5 million in mortgages and construction loans.

As a result, Teresa was sentenced to 15 months in prison in October 2014. After serving her sentence, she was hit with a reported debt of $261,000 in unpaid taxes. Her family attorney explained that they were in contact with the appropriate agencies regarding the outstanding tax liabilities and were able to negotiate a repayment schedule that allowed Teresa to make payments towards the taxes that were in arrears while staying current with what she owed moving forward.

Teresa divorced Joe in September 2020 after 20 years of marriage and four daughters together. In 2022, she sold the NJ mansion that they shared for $2 million. Joe was deported due to his crimes, and Teresa now resides in a $3.3 million property with her new husband, Luis Ruelas, whom she wed in August 2022, and their respective kids.

Despite her past financial struggles, Giudice appears to be taking responsibility for her debts and making an effort to pay them off. Her attorney emphasizes that she has been aware of her tax obligations for years and will continue to make timely monthly payments towards her outstanding tax liabilities until they no longer exist.
