Janette Manrara, who is expecting her first child with husband Aljaz Skorjanec, celebrated Mother’s Day in America by paying tribute to her own mother. The Miami-born dancer shared an intimate photo on her Instagram account, showing her mother cradling her growing baby bump during a recent trip to the US. In the caption, Janette explained that the photo was taken on the last day she saw her mother before the baby arrives and that it was a tough goodbye with many tears shed.
Janette and her mother, Maritza Manrara, have a close relationship, which was evident last year when they posed together for an exclusive photoshoot with HELLO! In an interview with the magazine, Janette spoke fondly of both her parents, who were always supportive of her dancing career.
Janette’s parents, who migrated from Cuba to Miami, had big dreams but were never able to achieve them. However, they instilled in their daughter the belief that she should “go for it, whatever it is, and no matter how big, how scary, if that’s what you want to do, chase it, work hard for it and taste it.”
Despite this being a special time in Janette’s life, she recently faced heartbreaking news as her grandfather passed away. In an emotional tribute on Instagram, Janette revealed that her grandfather Miguel Angel Manrara was “a man full of life, hardworking, and always telling jokes and stories.” She also explained that they were “extremely close” and that it was “very difficult” being away from her family at such a sad time.
As Janette prepares to become a mother herself, she hopes to be just as loving and supportive as her own mother has been to her. In her Mother’s Day message, she wrote, “I love my mother more than words will ever describe, and now that I’m about to enter this adventure of motherhood for myself, I can only hope to be the same w/ my own child.”
