Gio Benitez, the celebrity news anchor who appears on Good Morning America Weekend, recently enjoyed a vacation with his husband, Tommy DiDario. Benitez shared a boomerang video of the couple on social media, featuring the classic song ‘Islands in the Stream’ by Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton. The couple was seen wearing casual shirts, with Tommy resting his head on Gio’s shoulder. The video attracted compliments from fellow ABC anchors and friends who joined them on their vacation.
The Vacation
The couple was part of a group of eight friends, including Sam Champion and Rubem Robierb, Emily Kaufman and Sid, and Robin Roberts and Amber Laign. The group traveled to the Turks and Caicos for a tropical adventure, leaving New York and the Good Morning America studios behind. Robin Roberts shared pictures of their sun-soaked vacation, including time on the boat, calling it a “much appreciated break.”
Emily, known as the Travel Mom, shared a video from the day trip, in which she introduced her friends, who had no experience of being on camera. Robin and Gio helped Emily to announce the winner of her weekly giveaway, which this week was a trip to Margaritaville in New York.
Robin’s time off started last week when she saw Taylor Swift in concert in New Jersey, before she and Amber flew to their “happy place,” Key West, before making their way to Turks and Caicos for the trip organized by Tommy. The 62-year-old news anchor was joined at the Taylor concert with Mariska Hargitay, and the two shared with fans a selfie they had taken.
Robin had recently been in Paris on assignment, sharing a photograph of the Eiffel Tower and Parisian skyline from her hotel room.
Gio Benitez, 37, married Tommy DiDario in 2016 after Gio proposed in front of the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France. The couple’s vacation with friends was a much-deserved break from their busy schedules, and the video shared on social media was a sweet moment of relaxation and love.
