Bam Margera Put on Psychiatric Hold by LAPD

The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) has put Bam Margera on a 5150 psychiatric hold, claiming that he is a danger to himself and others. TMZ reports that the LAPD was able to locate Margera on Sunday afternoon by tracking his phone. They found him at Trejo’s Tacos, a popular restaurant owned by Danny Trejo.

Erratic Speech and Behavior Prompt Psychiatric Evaluation

Upon making contact with Margera, the police officers noted his erratic speech and behavior. Combined with his recent suicidal threats, they deemed it necessary to call in a psychiatric evaluation team. After meeting with Margera, the team determined that he needed to be put on a 5150 hold.

Margera’s Recent Troubles

Last week, Margera made headlines when he threatened to smoke crack until he died if he was not allowed to see his son. He is currently going through a divorce from his estranged wife, Nikki, who he claims is keeping him from seeing their son. On Sunday, Margera’s brother, Jess Margera, sent out a desperate tweet asking if anyone had information on Margera’s whereabouts. Jess explained that Margera had sent a text to family members that made them fear he was suicidal.

Margera Can be Held for 72 Hours

Margera has been taken to a mental health facility where he can be held for up to 72 hours by law. It is unclear if he is still receiving treatment. The news of Margera’s psychiatric hold comes after years of public struggles with alcoholism and drug addiction. Margera was a star on the popular MTV show, “Jackass,” and has been open about his struggles with mental health and addiction in the past.
