Anna Delvey’s East Village Apartment Partially Condemned by New York City Department of Buildings

Anna Delvey, the con artist who posed as a wealthy German heiress to scam businesses and banks, has been on house arrest at her East Village apartment since her release from prison. However, her living conditions have recently taken a turn for the worse. The New York City Department of Buildings has condemned part of her apartment, citing “imminently perilous” conditions.

Details of the Condemnation

According to Page Six, a “partial vacate” notice was posted on the downstairs doorway of Delvey’s apartment building this week. The notice stated that “conditions within this premises are imminently perilous to life” and that re-entry is prohibited until the conditions are eliminated to the satisfaction of the department. Violators of this order are subject to arrest.

Initially, it seemed as though Delvey could be arrested for being in her own house due to the notice’s wording. However, sources close to Delvey clarified that it was only the garbage chute that was out of commission. The “partial” part of the vacate order means that Delvey and other residents cannot use the chute until it has been fixed.

A notice from the landlord, also seen by Page Six, stated that the vacate order was for the garbage shaft area. The trash will be temporarily moved from that location until the area is fixed.

Delvey is currently on house arrest at the apartment and has been hosting parties and art exhibits since her release from prison. She even hosted “Club House Arrest” in January, which attracted guests like Cynthia Rowley, Rachel Rabbit White, Cat Marnell, and Ben Widdicombe.

Delvey was arrested in 2017 for scamming banks and businesses out of money and services. She was sentenced to four to 12 years in prison in 2019 and was released on parole in 2021. Before her arrest, Delvey lived in the Standard High Line and other chic hotels.

It’s unclear how long it will take to fix the garbage chute in Delvey’s apartment building and whether the order will affect her house arrest. However, this recent condemnation is just another setback for the con artist turned art world darling.
